Shots, shots & more shots...OUCH!!!

As we get closer to our departure date for our first-ever B.H.S. Round Square International Service Project on Koh Phi Phi Don, Thailand,
things are
starting to feel - well, real!

Not only am I starting to feel that after over a year of planning and
fundraising, our Tsunami Relief Project is really happening, but as of yesterday, I can actually FEEL that it's all real...
...and it hurts!!

Yesterday,
our B.H.S. Team attended a presentation given by Dr. Barber & Mrs. Oriol, R.N. on potential health related issues while we travel & work in Thailand.

This very informative session culminated in each of us receiving our required three
(yes, three!!)
vaccines.

Of course, 24-hours later, many of us are still experiencing some difficulty raising our arms high enough to comb our hair or brush our teeth!

Check out the bravery displayed by our
courageous Student Team Members!

You Go, Girls!!!

2005 - Bands of Hope Fundraising Project

For our major fundraising efforts BHS designed "Bands of Hope", rubber wristbands with the word "Hope" in English and five different languages (representing the most severely devastated countries).

Several local retailers assisted us in selling the bands and during the weekly "Harbour Nights" cultural street festival BHS students and teachers volunteered to operate a stall to sell the bands. Over $25,000 in funds were raised, all of which will go to help communities and schools in Thailand.

At the Round Square Conference in Melbourne, Australia in September 2005 Tina Nash (BHS Guidance Counsellor and Round Square Coordinator) met Paul Crouch (Round Square Coordinator at Regent's School in Pattaya, Thailand) and discovered that Regent's School had partnered with Bonn Koh Phi Phi School on Koh Phi Phi Don island in Thailand to help the school and community recover.

Tina suggested to the team that this would be a perfect project to direct our funds towards. In June 2006, 9 students and 7 adults will travel to Koh Phi Phi Don to perform community service and experience some of the history and culture of Thailand.
